CHS Mask Mandate Discussion at 10/20/2021 School Committee Meeting

Greetings Cohasset Families,

I am writing to remind you that the mask mandate at Cohasset High School will be discussed during tonight’s Cohasset School Committee Meeting, which will take place at Willcutt Commons at 6:00PM. As is the usual, the meeting can be attended in-person, and it is being streamed live via Zoom and Facebook.

Yesterday, due to Cohasset High School exceeding the 80% vaccination threshold, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE) granted approval for Cohasset High School (not other schools in the district) to lift the mask mandate requirement for vaccinated individuals pending Cohasset School Committee and Cohasset Board of Health (BoH) approval. Please note that regardless of any decision made by the Cohasset School Committee and Cohasset Board of Health, in alignment with statewide guidance, unvaccinated students and staff at Cohasset High School will still be required to wear masks as indicated in the September 27 DESE guidance. It also should be noted that if the decision is made to modify the mask mandate at Cohasset High School, that, regardless of vaccination status, individuals at Cohasset High School may certainly choose to continue to wear a mask while in school. Any choice to wear a mask should not be viewed as an indication of one’s vaccination status. We look forward to your participation in the discussion this evening.

Sincerely,

Patrick Sullivan, Ed.D.
