As a Special Education Liaison I have been fortunate to facilitate and cultivate the students learning experience and transition throughout their high school academic endeavors as they prepare for post-secondary opportunities. My colleagues and I worked closely facilitating, modeling, providing direct instruction, and encouraging all students to understand, comprehend and appreciate their individual talents and challenges. As the Special Education Liaison I provide direct services, as developed via the student’s IEP Team and documented within the IEP, in the Academic Learning Center (ALC) classroom setting. In addition, I have the unique opportunity and responsibility as one of the CHS’s Special Education Liaison to be involved across the curriculum (i.e. Special Education, English, Science, Math, and History). I truly believe “Learning is a lifelong process and experiences”. After working in the Finance Field for over 17 years, I followed my philosophy of learning and returned to education. I have my Master in Education and I am licensed in Special Education Mild to Moderate 5th -12th grade and English 5th-12th grade. On completion of my Master Program along with teaching at Somerville High School and Hingham High School I began my teaching practice at CHS in 2005.  An educator who is willing to approach every situation with an open mind and pedagogy that allows the many diverse views and opinions that are present in our schools today can be described as a reflective teacher. CHS has given me the opportunity to become an educator / reflective teacher who provides a safe student centered learning environment while maintaining high expectation for the students as well as myself. To teach is not to create a perfect replica of the teacher, but to facilitate knowledge to the students so that they might begin to understand and interpret their world and form their own minds.
