Dear Cohasset School Families:
We are pleased to notify you that both school-related warrant articles PASSED at last night’s special town meeting. Thank you to everyone who participated in the meeting and supported our students.
HOWEVER: One of the articles, the School Special Purpose Stabilization Fund, which will provide the district with a $1.5M fund from which we can pay for important repair and maintenance projects, still requires a majority vote at the SPECIAL TOWN ELECTION THIS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18. We urge our district families to participate in the election, if at all possible, so that the school community’s perspective is included in the results.
Polls will be open from 8AM until 6PM at the Town Hall. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Patrick Sullivan, Ed.D.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to update you with exciting news about universal free school meals. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has decided to extend free school meals for all students through the 2023-2024 school year! This means that breakfast and lunch will continue to be served at no cost to all students.
Free and Reduced Application: Only fill out a free and reduced application if you might qualify for EBT benefits through the state and for fee waivers for district fees such as bus fees, athletic fees etc. Meals are free for all students regardless of income.
For all students, Ala carte items and second lunches are extra. Students will need to pay with cash or have money in their account to purchase these items. There is no charging (into a negative balance) for these items.
Second lunches will be charged at regular price. Middle/High school: $3.00, Elementary schools: $2.75. Milk, juice, and a small bottle of water are $.50 if purchased without a meal. A la carte snacks will be available for purchase as offered.
Menus will be posted on our website, www.cohassetk12.org, under the “Nutrition” tab.
Preferred method of payment:
We are excited to welcome everyone back to what promises to be a wonderful school year. This year we will continue to focus our efforts as a school community on the implementation of the third and final year of the Cohasset Public Schools Strategic Plan 2021- 2024, which was created collaboratively by the entire Cohasset School Community.
We will strive to create an environment that is focused on the whole student, as we help students realize this year’s theme, “Follow Your Compass.” We are excited to help students achieve the gains that come from navigating their educational journey, as they understand their strengths and opportunities for growth.
Above all else, please know that we are here to support you and your child. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any staff member if we can help along this year’s journey.
Please click on the included links to access the Welcome Letter for the 2023-2024 School Year, an updated 2023-2024 Cohasset Public Schools Calendar, and the invitations to the District-wide Ice Cream Social , including the Osgood Teddy Bear Picnic for those entering PK -2, and to the Superintendent’s Coffee. Principals will be communicating specific scheduling and opening day information in the coming days. Please enjoy the remainder of your summer.

From Commissioner of Education Riley’s memo to Superintendents sent on August 15, 2022:
“The Commonwealth is not recommending universal mask requirements, surveillance testing of asymptomatic individuals, contact tracing, or test-to-stay testing in schools. Districts and schools are reminded that there is no longer any statewide masking mandate in schools (other than school health offices) and there is no testing requirement for schools.” We will continue to respect the right of individuals to wear masks at any time during the school day.
“Effective August 15, 2022, all students and staff in childcare, school in grades K-12, or participating in out-of-school time (OST) and recreational camp settings should follow the updated isolation and exposure guidance issued by DPH, in alignment with recently issued guidance from CDC. No asymptomatic person should be excluded from school as a result of exposure, regardless of vaccination status or exposure setting.”
