BYOD Certificate Installation Directions

    • Note: This certificate is only in effect while connected to the CMHS Network, if it is not installed users will not have effective access to the internet while on the CMHS BYOD Network.

      *The preferred browser on all devices is Chrome.

      • Find your device type in the list below and follow the directions given, with updates and different versions of operating systems some instructions may vary.  
    • Chromebook:
    • If you are connected to the internet from home start with Step 4
    • If you are at CMHS
      1. Join the “CMHS-BYOD” WiFi network
      2. Log in with your network credentials (For all students):
        1. Username: First Initial, Last Name, Last Two-Digits for Year of Grad (Ex. BSmith23)
        2. Password: Use the same password that you use to access your school Google account
      3. Next, you should be redirected to https://www.cohassetk12.org/Page/3865
      4. If you are logging into your Chromebook with a school issued Google account, the certificate will be installed automatically. If you are using a personal Google account please proceed to step 5.
      5. Click on the certificate download link Certificate Download
      6. After the download has completed
      7. In the web browser’s address bar type “chrome://settings”
      8. Click on “Advanced” at the bottom of the page
      9. Under ‘Privacy and Security’ click ‘Security' and scoll down to click 'Manage Certificates'.
      10. Click Authorities
      11. Click Import and select the "webfilter.barracuda.crt" file and click “Open”
      12. Check all 3 boxes and Click OK
      13. Reboot Device
    • Mac OS X (MacBook Air, MacBook Pro):
    • If you are connected to the internet from home start with Step 4
    • If you are at CMHS
      1. Join the “CMHS-BYOD” WiFi network
      2. Log in with your network credentials (For all students):
        1. Username: First Initial, Last Name, Last Two-Digits for Year of Grad (Ex. BSmith23)
        2. Password: Use the same password that you use to access your school Google account
      3. Next, you should be redirected to a new webpage https://www.cohassetk12.org/Page/3865
      4. Click on the certificate download link Certificate Download
      5. If you are presented a pop-up if you would like this page to open, click "Allow"
      6. If you are presented with a security message click “more” and click “proceed anyway”
      7. Click the downloaded certificate in the bottom left to install
      8. Enter your password if prompted for it.
      9. After you open the certificate a window may pop up in the middle of your screen that says "Add Certificates." If it does not please skip to step 9A. If it does please look In the lower right corner of the window you will see a drop down menu with three options, select "System" and then click "Add." If you do not see that popup window please proceed to step b, everyone else should go to step a.
        1. After you click "Add" you will be prompted to enter your username and password. Next, look at the top left side of the "Keychain Access" window, you should see the word "System" highlighted. On the lower left side of the window the phrase "All Items" highlighted. Proceed to step A.
        2. After your opened the certificate the program "Keychain Access" should have opened on your computer. Next, look at the top left side of the "Keychain Access" window, you should see the word "System" highlighted. On the lower left side of the window the phrase "All Items" highlighted. Proceed to step I.
          1. At the top of your screen open the "File" drop down menu and click "Import Items." Then go to your downloads folder and select "webfilter.barracuda.crt" and enter your password when prompted. Next proceed to step A.
      1. Now on the right side of the "Keychain Access" window scroll down the list of items until you see "CPS Internet Allow" certificate. You should see a small red circle with an x on it next to the certificate, double click to open it.
        1. A new window will appear, at the top of the window it will say "CPS Internet Allow"
        2. On the top left side of this window you will see the word, "Trust" written in bold with a gray triangle to the left. Click on the gray triangle.
        3. You will now see a set of drop down menus. Open the drop down menu for "When using this certificate:" and select the option to "Always Trust"
        4. You will be prompted to enter your computer credentials one more time. After entering your username and password you can close "Keychain Access"
      1. Reboot Device 
    • iOS Device (iPads):
    • If you are connected to the internet from home start with Step 7
    • If you are at CMHS
      1. Go to the settings icon
      2. On the left side of the screen navigate to Wi-Fi
      3. Then on the right side of the screen select the “CMHS-BYOD” wifi network
      4. Next minimize the page and open a web browser
      5. You will prompted to enter the student’s username and password (For all students):
        1. Username: First initial, Last name, Last two digits of your grad. year (i.e., BSmith23)
        2. Password: Use the same password that you use to access your school Google account
      6. Next, you should be redirected to a new webpage or:
        1. If you are not automatically redirected within the login pop up window, use Safari and go to https://www.cohassetk12.org/Page/3865
      7. Click on the certificate download link Certificate Download
      8. Then click “Continue” , "Allow" , or "Download" depending on what appears.
      9. You will see a box saying "Profile Downloaded" Please hit close.
      10. Open the Settings App, Go to "General" , and then to "Profile"
      11. Click the Downloaded Profile "CPS Internet Allow"
      12. Click "Install" in the top right corner
      13. Click "Install" in the top right corner again. Click install in the bottom middle of the screen
      14. Click "Done" in the top right corner.
      15. Go to "Settings", then "General", then "About"
      16. Scroll down and click "Certificate Trust Settings" 
      17. Enable "CPS Internet Allow" using the slider and click continue of the Pop-Up.
      18. Restart the device.
    • Windows 7 Directions:
    • If you are at CMHS
    • If you are connected to the internet from home start with Step 5
      1. Join the “CMHS-BYOD” wifi network
      2. If not prompted to log-in to AeroHive, open a web browser and go to Google.com
      3. Log-In with the student’s username and password (For all students):
        1. Username: First initial, Last name, Last two digits of your grad. year (i.e., BSmith23)
        2. Password: Use the same password that you use to access your school Google account
      4. Follow the redirect or enter the following address into your web browser: https://www.cohassetk12.org/Page/3865
      5. Click the certificate downloaded link Certificate Download
      6. You may be asked to “Keep” or “Discard” this file please choose “Keep”
      7. Click “Open” and then “Install Certificate” and then click “Next”
      8. Select “Place all certificates in the following store” and Click Browse
      9. Select “Trusted Root Certificate Authorities” and click OK
      10. Click “Next” and then “Finish”
      11. Click “Ok”
      12. Click “Ok” again
      13. Reboot the device
    • Windows 8 and 10 Directions:
    • If you are connected to the internet from home start with Step 5
    • If you are at CMHS
      1. In the lower right corner of the screen click on the wireless internet icon
      2. From the list of networks choose “CMHS-BYOD”
      3. You should be prompted to enter your username and password (For all students):
        1. Username: First initial, Last name, Last two digits of your graduation year (Ex. BSmith23)
        2. Password: Use the same password that you use to access your school Google account
      4. After you enter your credentials a new web page should load. If not open a web browser and go to the following site: https://www.cohassetk12.org/Page/3865
      5. Click the download link Certificate Download
      6. You will see the file download in the bottom left corner of your browser
      7. You may also be asked to “Keep” or “Discard” this file please choose “Keep”
      8. Click on the file “webfilter.barracuda.crt” once it has finished downloading
      9. Then click “Open” and from the new window that appears
      10. Click “Install Certificate"
      11. Click “Next”
      12. Then from the two options presented in the installation window select “Place all certificates in the following store
      13. Then click “Browse”
      14. After a short wait you should see a window appear with several file folders, select “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” and click “OK”
      15. Click “Next”
      16. Click “Finish” then click, “Yes” and lastly click “OK”
      17. Reboot Device

     

    • Android Tablet Directions:
    • If you are connected to the internet from home start with Step 5
    • If you are at CMHS
      1. Join CMHS-BYOD wifi network
      2. If you are not prompted to log-in to AeroHive, open browser and go to Google.com
      3. You should be prompted to enter your username and password (For all students):
        1. Username: First initial, Last name, Last two digits of your graduation year (Ex. BSmith23)
        2. Password: Use the same password that you use to access your school Google account
      4. You should be redirected to a new webpage to download the certification, if not open a web browser and go to: https://www.cohassetk12.org/Page/3865
      5. Click download link Certificate Download
      6. If you are presented with a security message Click “ADVANCED”
      7. In the new window name the Certificate “CPS”
      8. In the “Credential Use” dropdown menu select “Wi-Fi”
      9. Click “Ok”
      10. The certificate has Installed
      11. Reboot Device
